About Ocean Tribe

Ocean Tribe — private deep-sea fishing in Mauritius Ocean Tribe organizes private fishing trips from Grande Rivière Noire on the west coast of Mauritius. Our goal is to introduce guests to authentic ocean fishing in the waters of the Indian Ocean, combining professional organization, a personalized approach, and onboard comfort. Trips are led by Captain Frederic, who has over 20 years of experience. The route, fishing techniques, and outing schedule are tailored according to the season, weather conditions, guest skill levels, and desired types of fish. Ocean Tribe is suitable for both experienced anglers and those going ocean fishing for the first time. Families with children are also welcome aboard. Depending on the time of year, the waters around Mauritius can host blue and black marlin, yellowfin tuna, barracuda, amberjack, bonito, mahi-mahi, and other pelagic species. The team uses trolling, jigging, popping, deep-sea fishing, and other techniques suitable for local conditions. Fly fishing is also possible if the necessary equipment is available. Guests go out to the ocean on a 60-foot sport fishing vessel designed for groups of up to ten people. The boat was built in 2009 and underwent refurbishment in 2024. It is equipped with two Caterpillar engines, each with 715 hp, and can reach speeds of up to 25 knots. Onboard amenities include air conditioning, a toilet, cabin, kitchen, refrigerator, multimedia system, flybridge, GPS, radar, sonar, fighting chair, outriggers, and a live bait compartment. Necessary rods, reels, tackle, bait, live bait, and fishing licenses are included in the trip organization. A deckhand is available onboard, and drinks, light snacks, and meals are provided based on the selected program. For Ocean Tribe, the results of the fishing are important, but so is the entire day in the ocean: the team's work, safety, the beauty of Mauritius' coastline, and the impressions that will stay with guests after returning to shore. Each outing is a private marine program that the team strives to adapt to the specific group and its expectations.
